Here is everything you need to know before your first appointment.
You can book your appointment online, or call us directly during opening hours on 08 8549 1708. New patients are given a full hour for their first appointment so we have plenty of time to get to know you and carry out a thorough examination.
Your first appointment is one hour. We begin by taking the time to understand your medical and dental history and any concerns you have before carrying out a thorough examination. We use intraoral photos and x-rays where needed to get a complete picture of your oral health.
Before your visit, we will send you a new patient form by SMS or email so we have everything ready ahead of your appointment. If you are unable to complete this beforehand, simply arrive 5 to 10 minutes early and we can go through it with you on paper before you come through.
We will then walk you through everything we find in plain language and discuss any next steps clearly and without pressure. If treatment is needed, you will understand exactly what it involves and what it costs before anything is booked. You are always in control of your care.
Strathalbyn Family Dental accepts most major private health funds with dental extras cover. HICAPS is available at our practice so we can process your claim on the spot. We recommend bringing your health fund card to your appointment. Please note we are not a preferred provider for any specific health fund.
Medicare does not cover routine dental treatment for adults. However, eligible children aged 2 to 17 may be entitled to funding through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS). If your child is eligible, their check-up and clean will be bulk billed with no out-of-pocket cost. See our Children’s and Family Dentistry page for more detail on CDBS fees and eligibility.
We accept payment by cash, EFTPOS, and all major credit cards. We do not currently offer payment plans or third-party finance options such as Afterpay, Zip, or DentiCare.

Ample parking is available on site behind the building, accessed via our driveway on High Street.
